Game Chioces / Input Needed
Hi all,
Looking for some suggestions on games for the PC.
I'm not much of a gamer, as a matter of fact the only game that I ever played and enjoyed was the Descent series (2 and 3) which is now pretty dated.
I'm looking to buy the games at gogamer.com as that is what quite a few people here have recommended.
Thinking of 4 - 5 titles.
What i'm looking at so far;
Freespace - The only thing I know of that's close to Descent
Unreal II / The Awakening - Never played any of these titles, don't know if I should start hhere or at the begining
Battlefield 1942 - Heard this was a great game
Any other suggestions?
Thanks
WB

I thought Unreal 2 sucked. The graphics were great but the dude moves to slow. I was really getting ticked at that. By the fourth level I'd uninstalled the game I was so sick of it.
Can't comment on the other two since I've never played either.
If you have a fat pipe I'd suggest downloading the demo of Dungeon Siege. I really liked that game and the demo has around 15 of gameplay in it. A word of warning though: I got so addicted to the demo that as soon at I got to the point where the demo ended I got up, drove to Best Buy, bought the game, drove home, installed it, and resumed play again. Digital crack at it's finest.
You can demo pretty much any game now though. I wouldn't seriously considering buying one I couldn't. . .

FREESPACE 2! You can't go wrong with Freespace 2 if you can find a copy of it, it is incredible. If you are shopping at Gogamer.com, you might want to take a look at Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Gold Edition.

I'd also recommend Neverwinter Nights but the demo is really gay so that won't give you a good idea of how good the game is. Don't bother with the first expansion pack though unless you get a really good deal on it. You get some nice extra features with the expansion but the story's so bad it's not worth playing IMO. The second expansion pack is looking really good though and I hope Santa brings it to me

| Scott Tiger, if you had waited for the patch to come out, or, wait for it, actually read the forums for patches instead of posting old, old comments. The guy in Unreal 2 moved to slow (see the past tense?), but the patch speeds the guy up. I'd get it, the game is really short, but play it on Normal and it lasts quite a while! The graphics are superb and is a game definately worth playing.
Don't go for Freespace, go for Freelancer instead, it is much much better and is like a MMOG online. Speaking of MMOG's, if you like them and space simulators, get Eve Online, like all MMOG's, it's Pay Per Month (PPM), but is really a fine game!
Battlefield 1942 is a great game, especially with the "Secret Weapons of WW2" expansion pack, at a LAN, it's really, really funny.
Also, if you like slower paced FPS', get Raven Shield, it's like all Tom Clancy games, but you can see the gun (yay!), has amazing graphics, and great online play, you could pick it up for about £13 ($16/17).

Optimus: Thanks for the tip. I think I've already sold the game though. . .
JP: Yeah, you can hook up downtown now for nothing. I haven't tried it yet though. One of the guys in the office got his i-book to work with it but he had to sit right next to the Window (we're on the 8th floor though so that is to be expected.)

I'd look into Max Payne too. It should be really cheap right now and it's a GREAT game. Castle Wolfenstien should also get an honorable mention as well; I had a lot of fun playing that game!
