Kids Help - NTLDR problem??

I just tried to merge my partitioned hard drive with Partition magic Pro. When the software was merging the two it encountered an error and restarted, now the hard disk isnt recognised.

I booted up with the Partition Magic pro rescue disks and checked the hard disk - it seems there is data on there but it said:

Partition improperly dismounted
Two few clusters

The hard drive data may now be totally useless - everything might be lost - I am gutted.
help!

My Hard drive is NFTS format, the OS was Windows XP Pro and its on my laptop, I also have no other pc!

I have run the chkdsk /r command. As a result when running partitionmagic recovery and checking the c:/ it now states that there are no problems with the drive. The only issue is that windows no longer boots. How can I look at the hard disk contents? (I have an NTFS format so cant look with dos)

bootcfg hasnt worked

I attempted to repair the installation - the same result - nothing happens on reboot. I also tried to do a rfesh install on the same partition - again nothing happens on reboot - its strange as windows copies the relevant files reboots and hangs.

In the recovery console it now notices the 2nd windows install - v strange that recovery recognises the hard disk and installation but on boot nothing happens.

I have run fixboot - abd tried to use this:
copy drive:\i386\ntldr c:\

copy drive:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\
both have given me no luck.

I have tried creating a partition in the unused data - this was sucessful - seemingly - but again the same problems as before. I think I have used all my options - I really dont want to loose my data but I cant think of any other options! - I know the data is there and I can even access it in recovery mode, chkdsk seems to show no errors - chkdsk /r - supposedly corrects errors but still the same problems. On hint might be - I looked at the disk with a shareware programme and it pulled up This: NTLDR is missing, press ctrl+Alt+del to restart (which is an NTLDR prob..)
I just dont understand whats wrong!

I would appreciate this a million million times if this could be fixed - thanks v much

The easiest way to obtain your data would be by putting the hard drive to another computer that supports ntfs, copying the data to safe and formatting the hard drive.
