You need to create a partition on it.

Use 'Administrative Tools\Computer Management\Disk Management' to create a drive.

Ok another question, when i got it hooked up and working it shows the safe remove hardware thingy in the taskbar. When i unplug it do i allways have to do that to remove it? how bout when i shut down my comp. Do i shut down then turn the power on the xternal box off?

I think you can just unplug it. I believe that icon in the systray now, just shows that you have a device plugged in. You can probably unplug/power off the external drive at anytime it's not being used w/o XP complaining.

Hey cMoAyRoItOe, I have the same problem too except I have a 200GB mass storage Metal Gear Box and it says it's loaded, but I cannot see the drive???

I went into properties and it's there in black and white, but why can't I see it.

Me thinks I should get Win XP and load up,perhaps I will see the drive then or do you have any other suggestions.

I have tried several other options the Guys on this site have suggested and no luck???

Did you add a partition to yours as well? It won't see a drive(partition) in 'My Computer' if there isn't want there.
