Microsoft keyboard accessing the net. Huh?

I've noticed on quite a few occasions when I get up in the morning that ZA is showing a message asking if I want to let Microsoft Intellitype to access the internet.

Why would my keyboard want to go online?

Bill

Taking a guess here Bill..... but if Microsoft Intellitype is software, perhaps it has a setting to search for updates automatically. That may explain it. Take at look at your keyboard and driver configurations....if there is a setting for auto-updating, disable it and see if that cures things.

I think that your keyboard is lonely and wants attention so it is looking for it from the internet...I think that you need to sit down with you keyboard and give it some quality time...Hope this helps

That's probably what it is Target.

However I see no settings for updates.

Targets right about the software. I have a MS mouse and keyboard that had no software, and they never tried to access the internet. A couple of weeks ago I downloaded the software for both from MS, and within one hour, both the mouse and key board tried to access the internet. So far I haven't let them , but maybe it is just an update.

Man, that blows goats Bill.....(ie: no settings to prevent auto updating and so-on). Is it possible just to download a stand-alone driver for the devices, or do you need all of the associated software as well?

If its the latter, thats one more great reason to avoid MS products..... geez, even the hardware phones home
