XP and my Scanner

Is there anyway I can get control of my scanner back from XP? I liked the software that came with my scanner, and it has more options than XP's scanner controls. What I really want to know is can I shut off XP's scanner control?

Any help greatly appreciated

Danny

It would help to know the make and model of your scanner, and which scanner software you're trying to work with. Many older scanners' software are unsupported under XP, but the scanners themselves work fine with XP's drivers.

XP and Scanner

Should have mentioned that the scanner is a UMAX Astra 1220U and the software is Vista Scan v3.10.

Thanks

I suspected an UMAX. I have an UMAX 610S and gave up trying to use the Vista Scan software with WinXP. I use the WinXP functionality (miss the "copier" feature most), but most of the programs I use with the scanner (mostly Paint Shop Pro, MS Word and MSW Photo Editor) do a good job of acquiring the images.

UMAX has begun charging for software upgrades to Vistascan WinXP-compatible versions. See: http://www.umax.com/scanners/index.j...+CD-ROM+Titles

See also this link, and pull up your scanner model and OS:

You're in (bad) luck... you can order Vistscan 3.55 (8.93mb) on CD ... looks like it's NOT free though ($14.50)

jmichna, look at your link again. It indicates that software is available for XP, though not free. I was trying to find software for the same scanner for XP awhile back, was pointed to this site for the Vistascan software for free.

jmichna, I see you edited your post while I was digging up the link.
Check out the link I provided.
I looked up your scanner and found drivers for 2000/XP.
Didn't read all the notes but it said something about profiles for your scanner and MagicMatch.
Might be worth a look.
