Installing WinXp on 400SC with IDE Raid Controller (help)

Hi,

Has anybody been able to install WinXP Pro on a Poweredge 400SC that has the PERC/CERC 4 Channel IDE Raid Controller from Dell (I've got 2x80Gb mirrored/raid1)

No matter what I do, I get the BSOD during setup and error 0x0000007B which relates to not being able to talk with the drive controller. I've done F6 during the inital XP install and tried the lsilogic WinXp drivers for the Megaraid ATA/100 I4 card (which appears to match the card dell has, since they don't publish XP drivers) but that's not working.

I was able to install win98, but trying to upgrade had the same problem.

Any help/ideas is appreciated. I need XP since it's going to host some software in a Animal Hospital that requires it and want the Raid 1 for the redundancy (would suck if it went down)

thanks
Steve

Have you tried the drivers at the bottom of this page?

Yup, those are the one' s I downloaded, put on a floppy and then hit F6 and loaded during the XP install. Still got the same error after doing that. Not sure why, I figured (or hoped) they should have worked.

Do they have 2K drivers? Use those if they do. I had to do that w/ a SuperMicro board. The XP drivers would give a BSOD during setup or right after. If I used the 2K drivers, I could get through setup, then upgrade when I was done.

You should also try looking through Dell.com or contacting them.

Dell won't support XP on their poweredge stuff (although it works fine if you can get it installed). I'll see if I can grab the 2000 driver and try Rick's suggestion

fyi...Rick's suggestion worked. I had to dig all over but finally found the Dell Win2K drivers via the Dell Japan Support site (the link was broken on the US site). I was able to use the win2k drivers to get the XP installer to recognize the drive.

All is well now, thanks for everybody's input
