Windows xp and the problems it has

hello all .I AM DESPERATE NEED of help . First off my sound card keeps messing up. The first problem is that when i installed my sound balster audigy gamer, it was fine. But when i treid to listen to my creative play center windows xp would switch resolutions on me. It would go from 32 byte to 16 bit and everything would become incredibly large. also for some dumb reason windows has decided lock down all of my folders and tells me every time i try to open anything in control panel windows cannot access specified path or file you must not have permission to access this item. Also i have intergrated sound on my computer , that dumb soundmax my mother board is intel pentuim 4 also my video card is a bloody monster geforce 4. Windows keeps telling me that all my devices are not compatible with windows xp. Also wheni had 98se this never happened and everything played nice togather i installed windows xp home edition over windows 98se, and befor i knew it my system literally blew up.

did you disable the onboard sound yet?

when does windows xp tell you your hardware is not compatible?

No i am not on as a administrator- how would i know if i was. Yes in my BIOS the sound card on the motherboard has been disabled. Windows tell me the noncompatible isssue whenit tries to install the audigy card- i have had so much trouble with windows and that card any suggestion that i might use when i get a new card. You see i really like to listen to music when i paint and when i program and all sorts of different times- and without a soundcrad it feels like i have lost an an arm or something.

Here is what the problem may be... because you did an upgrade from Win98 to XP, some of the drivers may need to be reinstalled. Although Windows wil load its own version of XP drivers in the process of the upgrade, it isn't always reliable.

Download XP version of the driver for the hardware you are having trouble on and uninstall the current drivers then load install the new drivers.
