Citrix is a very good application, and from my experience, their own site is pretty good.
We have it in house here, so feel free to post the q's, and I shall help you out mate!

Well, citrix is a brand, just like intel and without knowing the specific product you're using it's pretty hard to say anything.

www.citrix.com will help for a start though.

We use Citrix for running server applications, like our data systems, and for running web-based e-mail. It's basically a browser interface that allows you to log in and run an application. You think you're running the application locally, but you're actually only seeing what the server is doing, with a sreen-shot being sent back. It's nice because the app runs just as fast on older, slower machines.

It's not necessarily a web interface. We still have a lot of clients using the ica neighborhood instead of nfuse.
But what osprey said is true, it's just for running applications somewhere else over terminal server (that's how ours is).

so its running the apps from the server rather than the client PC, thus making the Client a terminal?

Exactly. The nice thing about it is we have some pretty old desktops, well old by desktop standards, and they're able to run a brand new data system very quickly because the work is really done at the server end. The Citrix part of it is completely transparent to the user in most situations.

We have some systems as old as P100's with an OS installed running fine.
The server does all the work, runs the apps and data, and the terminal simply gets an 'image' of the desktop.
Because all the processes are done on the server, the terminal is in no need to have any more processing power than to receive the screen info.
Citrix also only updates what changes on screen, so you can work seamlessly even on slow 28kbps dial-up connections..

We've had CITRX for 6-8 months and it's working out well for us. There are 18-20 users on one server at this time, and we expect to increase to 30-35 users.

I'd like to see more CITRIX threads here as I am far from an expert and discussions would be a big help. Printing still befuddles me at times.
