SD vs. MMC?

Hiya.

I am back after a few weeks of down time... Business Training and a vacation...

Anyways, I just got a little RCA mp3 player-- the Lyra 1080. It has 128MB of memory with a memory slot that can accept either MMC or SD memory.

Which should I pick?

My first thought is just to get MMC, so I never have to worry about DRM. But then again, I never use Windows Media or Music Match to transfer or encode my files to mp3...

My second thought is, does SD have any tech advantages over MMC?

And last lastly, if I buy SD do I really have to worry about DRM at all?

Thanks.

SD cards can be faster. Panasonic has some specs on their website. I'll see if I can pull something up later today.

Thanks RARAR.

I am only really concerned because they cost the same... Newegg has 256 MB of either SD or MMC for about $70...

Just trying to figure out which way to go!

If you read through this press release it notes that SD cards can get up to 10mb/s. I believe that is a limitation on the I/O not of the card. I am still trying to find out how fast MMCs are.

Sounds good.

But what about security? Say, I pop this into my mp3 player, transfer some files with Windows Explorer into the player, what happens next?

How does digital rights enter into this, if at all?
