PC Anywhere

Runs like crap.

I am less than 2 feet away from my computer with my laptop. Running a small lan on cable w/ cat5.

Why does it look like a slow/refreshing slideshow when I run this program? Whats with the lag? Shouldn't 100mbps or so lan send data a tad faster? Especially since I can play a game on a computer across the country with a ping of 18.

Is there any way to make the graphics look better as well? So it seems more like im controlling my PC with my laptop in a realtime fashion?

I really wanna play my games offa my PC using my laptop as more of portable, extension monitor. It seems reasonable enough, im just confused as to this lag and graphics degradation.

PCAnywhere has several settings with regards to the color scaling. Might want to look into those. Based on my experience, what you're doing is possible, but how enjoyable the game will be questionable. One of the ways PCAnywhere does what it does as well as it does is to drop frames when the communications can't keep up with the amount of graphical change on the screen. (A very good thing, as copying a file over a modem doesn't take forever and a day; MSs remote desktop control transfers every frame, meaning that every frame of the copy file animation is transmitted.) Downside to this is that game performance will suffer.

What might be a better solution would be to get a wireless keyboard (or an extension cable), the same for your mouse, and an extension cable (and maybe splitter and add another monitor?) for your monitor.
