Monitor Problems

I was trying to watch a movie fullscreen which I've done many times before but when I pushed the full screen button the monitor tried to view the movie but the illegal operation box came up for a program for something i've never seen before. I retarted my comp. and now everything is in 256 colors and when i go to change it that is the best setting it has now. It used to say 1 million colors or something along those lines but that option is gone now. What gives?

It sounds like you have a corrupted driver. Or maybe the system has lost it's way to the correct driver.

What operating system are you running.

If this problem just started, restart your computer in MS-DOS Mode.

At the prompt, type:
scanreg /restore (There is a space after scanreg)

You will be presented with 4 registry backups visible and 1 not visible but at the bottom if you scroll down further.

Pick a date that is previous to your problems and hit the Restore button.

After it has performed its duties you will be back to a prompt screen. Just hit Crtl + Alt + Delete and you will go back to Windows.

See if that solves the problem.
