Microtek Phantom 330 scanner problem

Hi all,
I am trying to install a Microtek Phantom 330 Parallel port scanner on my friends PC. It keeps stating that the scanner is not connected/cannot read fron NT port.
I have been to Microteks site and downloaded the latest version of the driver/software but it is still the same. I go into system properties and the scanner is in the device list OK, but further down I have the yellow question mark for Microtek parallel port host adapter. I believe the solution lies here but am lost as what to do, any help would be really appreciated.
The machine is a KMD-500MHz
running windows ME
thanks
Roger

Why does it say "scanner is not connected/cannot read fron NT port."? There is no NT port on a Windows Me machine. Are you sure you downloaded the correct driver from the website?

I just searched Microteks site and could not find any device with the name you specify.

and chose.........
Windows 9x/ME/NT....
Phantom 330.......
and downloaded/installed the file......
SW/sw255us.exe
but I still have the problem.
it is very frustrating.

What is your parallel port setting in your BIOS? On my Microtek Scanmaker E3 Plus, I have it set to EPP. I'm running XP Pro. It takes a little longer for my apps to access my scanner than it did when I was running Win98SE, but it works.
