Have you took the side off of the computer and looked inside....look and see if you have any open pci slots..they are the white ones.

If you are on broadband you might have a regular dialup modem in a pci slot..if you are on broadband you dont need the 56k modem so you could take it out.

If you take a look at this ATI Radeon 9600 AGP (Accerated Graphics Port) card you will see 2 monitor connections.

One CRT (ordinary monitor type)
One DVI (flat panel monitor type)

I you have 2 monitors of the CRT type, don't worry. You can purchase, and in some cases, comes with, a DVI to CRT adapter.

This particular card is for motherboards equipped with an AGP slot. Most newer motherboards (within the last couple of years) have this slot. It's brown in colour and at the top of the PCI slots on the motherboard.

If you don't have an AGP equipped motherboard, you can buy a PCI Video card that has the same setup for dual monitors.

If your PC has onboard Video, just buy a PCI Video card and this will give you the second connector for another monitor.

Cheers!

You can get two monitors hooked up from almost any configuration. Post your system video specs, and we can explore alternatives.

Onboard video, (jack on the motherboard) can add a second or even third video with the Agp or Pci slots. Proprietary (Dell,Compaq, HP, etc) usually disable the onboard video when you add a card. In that case, you would need two ramdac outputs on the vid card, with the appropriate jacks.

AGP , Accelerated Graphics Port, has faster data transfer with games, but an elcheapo PCI vid card will work.

It's one of them "get what you pay for kinda deals"

Here is an MSI 6378 board with onboard video, and a PNY PCI add on video card with two VGA outs:

Alright if you havent noticed Im a bit computer genius not. So Ill see if I follow-

I checked my All Wonder 9700 Pro. It says at top of box agp 8x/4x bus. Pixx on back of box shw this card having in back of it 1 place for monitor connectionand areas that say VID IN, CATV, VIDO OUT. I have a Intel Pentium 4 pavilion xt967. I just checked back of cpu. Seems that I can see slots from outside of computer b4 even opening up. Should of checked 1st. Theres 4 slots..how will I tell if they are for PCI or AGP? In the 4 slots there is-1. ATi wonder VE 2. slot just for monitor alone CRT connection 3. Another one for connecting speakers, 4. One thats not being used look like phone wire suppose ot go in there.

Now that I think about it I can remove 2 slots. 1 slot leave ATi Wonder Ve or All in wonder 9700 pro. 2nd slot can put in Winnov Vidam card or a new monitor connectin.

But I see that my 9700 Pro card has montior connection so right now Im at 2 montior connections. Depenging on what wire my monitor has to hook up to my computer. Also where my sound card is I see theres somethign that looks similiar to the DVI montior connection but in yellow..Is this same? Will there be a problem if I hook up Winnov capture card in 1 slot even if 9700 pro is connected?

Thanks

Im trying to get this all done tonight. Need all help I can get.

Now that Im thinking about it I should just get the 9600 Agp...depending if my cpu can take that. That way I can get a 3 monitor set up. What would be the advantage to that?

Thanks

Add a TV tuner Card to that setup and you could watch TV on one monitor, game on another and surf the net on the other.

Basically it would be 3 desktops.

2 monitors are great if you're doing a tutorial. Slide the tutorial on the second monitor while running the program on the main monitor.

The connection you speak of on your sound card is for a joy stick or similar periferal.

Cheers!

Oh ya. Forget the 3rd monitor and spend money on RAM.

Cheers!
