Systems I can't figure this out

I have an Epox 8K7A that was recently refurbished by Epox.

The USB on it worked fine before now.

I also upgraded the CPU from an AMD 950 to an AMD XP1800+.

Everything is working fine except the USB.

I use only a Kodak camera in the USB port.
The camera is ok, since I can take it to another PC and the USB sees it fine.

I thought maybe the onboard USB had gotten out of whack, so I bought a PCI to USB card and it is doing the same thing. It also doesn't see the camera.

So, I guess maybe it is a setting on the mobo that I changed for the new processor. If I recall correctly, I changed JCLK1, the CPU Clock select.
I have 2 choices:
Choice 1) CPU=100mhz, DDR=200MHZ, AGP=66.6, PCI=33.3.
Choice 2) CPU=133mhz, DDR=266mhz, AGP=66.6, PCI=33.3

and I changed SW2, the CPU Ratio Selection to be
1=off, 2~5=on, which is 11.5.

Are these setting correct, or should I be looking somewhere else ?

I might try putting JCLK1 back to the default, choice 1 and see what happens.

Such a puzzlement, and thanks.

Your CPU settings shouldn't affect the USB.

It's odd that you can't get the PCI USB card to see the camera either. I'd say make sure you loaded the drivers. Maybe uninstall/reinstall it again or move it to a different PCI slot. You may have a bum card. Try it in a different PC.

You might also just have to enable the onboard USB. Did you check the BIOS to see if it was enabled?

When you got it back from EPoX, did you go into the BIOS and "Restore Defaults"? Then go through and make any changes and pay attention to see if onboard USB is enabled.

Thanks Evil

Yes, I first tried the onboard USB. I made sure it was enabled.

I disabled the onboard when I put in the PCI to USB card.

In system properties, it shows, hmmm, well I tried taking a picture and pasting it into a wordpad document. Don't know if it came through

Since you're using XP, just use the 'Shift+PrtScn' to take a snapshot of the active window. 'PrtScn' does the whole screen.

You can then open up Paint, and copy the snapshot into there. Be sure to save as a .jpg.

Is it possibly the power supply ?

I added a CD burner as well, and I was wondering if there was enough juice in the PS to power the USB.
I have an Enlight HPC-300-101, 300 watts I think.

Devices I have are AMD XP 1800+
2 HDD
1 Floppy
1 NIC
1 CD-R
1-CD-RW
Nvidia Geforce 2 GTS
2 case fans

am I pushing the limit there ?

and thanks again.

If I were to disconnect the CD-R and CD-RW, would that be a test of the PS ?

Sometimes I hate this business

The mofo started working, but it was after I reloaded the camera drivers.

Apparently, it just forgot about them.

I still don't know why I had to do that. The mobo was the same, the HDD was the same, so why wouldn't the drivers remain in good shape.

Thanks for the help.

I knew it was one of those buttons. I usually have to do it a couple of times before I get right.

Glad to hear it. Sometimes files get corrupt/damaged for one reason or another. Is this w/ the onboard USB or the PCI card?

It was with

the on-board, so I returned the PCI-USB card back to the store.

And thanks again
