I had a tnt as well until a few months ago. Picked up a Radeon 9700 for 216. The 9700's are gettin to be harder to find, but they are way better than the 9600's. There is a new card out, the Radeon 9600XT. Its supposed to be better than the 9700. All these cards will fit your budget nicely.

Hey ZL1,

I've read a lot of posts regarding this subject here and most seem to think the GForce 4 Ti 4200 is the best buy.

I bought one last December to replace my TNT 770 Ultra and I love it!!!!

Here are a few from Newegg:

Thank you guys, after lots of research I think I will go with 9800NP or 9700PRO depending on luck

chefde I love the TI series but with all the new games the TIs fall behind pretty bad when compared to the 9700/9800 ATIs
however if you dont want to spend much and still have a great card the TI4200 is indeed a great choice, a friend recently bought a 4200 with 64mb for only $60 and it works great with all the games he plays

Hey ZL1,

I guess I just can't break away from the NVidia Chipsets, the TNT has served my well for several years, Brand Loyalty???

I'm going to building another system for my office, maybe I'll take a closer look at the ATI's!

I have never owned a Nvidia card and I dont think I ever will, I take that back cause I did own a FX 5600 for a few hours before getting a refund.

The Ti series is good.

DO NOT BUY A FX.

Hi

I actually feel the same and I had a TNT2 for quite a while too
I was originally planning on getting a TI4600 but the ATI 9700/9800 is just much faster, check it out

FX 5600 or ULTRA ? ULTRA makes a whole lot of difference
the 5800ULTRA and 5900ULTRA are generally pretty good cards but too damn expensive for me

the fx cards including ultra are horrible for HL2. Go with a 9500 pro or 9700.
