New HDD, dual boot..Win2K has crashed
I have setup a new hard drive using Win98SE and Win2K Pro. Several times on boot into 2k, I had a D: drive error and the OS ran chkdsk..it always found and fixed(?) some errors, created a file named FOUND.000 (now up to .006). (All one HDD with several partitions).
Today, the Win2K failed to load with an error concerning some "software" file that was not there, or corrupt (see image).
I have attempted a repair but that fails because I do not have the Emergency Repair Disk, and the other option to search for a Win2k to repair, and setup-repair does not find the OS.
Nothing works, and I have run out of (known) options, and the boot menu is still showing "Microsoft Windows 2000 Setup" in the menu when I finally gave up on the repair, I exited the setup-repair screen by pressing F3 (to quit setup).
Any help here?..
Thanks..

Well that doesn't look good at all. It appears your registry is corrupt. The only way to fix that is if you backed up the registry when the pc was working correctly. Even if you did you still may not be able to fix it. Do you need to get data from the drive?

No..it doesn't look good, LOL. I am now trying something. I am running Norton Disk Doctor from Win98 on the D" drive where Win2K it has found many errors so far, and is now scanning the drive for disk errors...well, its finished now, with several things fixed..so, I will now see if 2k will work..be back in a few..
Well.. That didn't help either.
I cannot get in 2k even in safe mode, and when I run the repair from setup, all I can get is some commands..which I tried a few that didn't help. I must not be running the repair correctly..it seems to me that the system should run a repair, find where the problem is and correct it..or attempt to correct it.
I had Windows 2000 on another drive for a short period but at the time, I could not find drivers for some hardware, so I reverted back to win98.. I never had to trouble shhot 2k..and now I do, but must not be doing something right.
Any 'how-toos' will be appreciated.
