ATI AIW 9700 PRO & ASUS P4G8X MOBO

I hope someone can help me. I decided to rebuild my system last month but have had problems with my ATI AIW 9700 Pro ever since.

My system contains the following:

ASUS P4G8X Deluxe
Intel P4 2.66 GHz
ATI AIW 9700 Pro
1 GB PC2100 DDR
60 GB HD + 120 GB HD
16X Pioneer DVD-ROM
Lite-ON 48x CD-RW
Optiwrite 4X DVD+-RW

OK, now here is the problem. I installed everything got the system all working but then I started running into all kinds of problems with the ATI AIW 9700 Pro. It started with Device Failures and/or computer locking up while using WIN XP PRO. So I figured some little setting was wrong. I went into the BIOS, changed all the settings pertaining to the AGP card but none of that ever seemed to fix anything. I messed with the Fast Write, AGP speeds, etc in WinXP too. Nothing has seemed to keep it stable. A few days ago I downloaded the most recent BIOS update Version 1006 and I have the newest ATI drivers that were released within the last week. I'm getting super frustrated because I haven't gotten the system working stable yet. I'm about to go back to my old AMD system. Everything was working great except I got greedy and wanted a faster system. Does anyone know how I could possibly remedy the situation??????

Have you tried testing it in your old AMD board (if it has an AGP slot)?

It was in in my old AMD system for 8 months working perfect, it wasn't until I put it in my new system that I had problems with it.

I would retest it in your own board just in case. I'm doubting your expertise or anything its just it might have died through anti-static complications.

I know it sounds like im trying to get you to bark like a dog but its better to check than waste your time.

yeah, i appreciate the suggestion, I planned on trying that out but I'm gone at school and haven't been home to get it. I sure hope that it didn't have static get to it because that was a heck of a lot of money to drop on that card. I bought it before it was even released to the public.

Could it be your Asus mobo has bad AGP? Try using another video card.(if you have one)
