OK apache is now working

/var/www/html why when i try and delete anything from this directory dose it say access denied to /var/www/html

say's the same if i try and add anything, Madrake say's that you can't login as root for security reasons - What the hell is the crack here

type su to become root. Only root has the permission to write/delete files from /var

found a way to this via konquer.

Have another problem now I thought i could give my user SU powers by chaing the users in control panel but that did not work and it crashed now i cant access the users panel it just keeps saying can't find etc/ptmp or etc/gtmp how do i fix this

I Think if you use KTerminal, and goto the file menu there is an option for "new session as root"
