The OS will provide (if M$) drivers for the keyboard. On several occasions, I have had hardware stop responding but a reboot will fix it.. I am not sure why, but I suspect the OS looses the drivers in the process of doing other things.. a reboot reloads the drivers. If the anomaly occurs often, it could possibly be a (slight) resource conflict..check device manager. If this continues or gets progressively worse, run a good memtest from a boot disk on your ram modules. A flaky stick of ram can cause all sorts of intermittent glitches.

While it could be , I doubt that it would be the likely cuprit.

More than likely something with system resources locking it up.

It sort of stands to reason that if it locked it up, it'd lock up the entire keyboard, not just the normal keys. But this is Windows we're talking about, logic and reason take a back seat to 'pretty.'
