I might just use them again now that they did this.

There's activation, and there's activation. Last year's TurboTax had a particularly nasty form that wrote to the boot sector of your hard drive and couldn't be removed without a good deal of difficulty. Remains to be seen whether Symantec's is as noxious.

Hmmm... so they finally got the numbers crunched & realized how many sales they lost to TaxCut & others, huh?
Goes to show that even a giant like Intuit has to respond if the public runs the other way!

I went with TaxCut after years of using TurboTax & Quicken - didn't care for it much, but I'd have done it by hand before buying TT last year. Glad to hear they've reversed it, and will buy their products again - after this has been confirmed....

I will not knowingly buy ANY product with "activation", and if I find it AFTER purchase I'll return it or just shelf it - won't install it under any circumstances, and that includes XP, which I did buy. I don't use it, don't want it, and have never worked on a machine which includes it! Since XP came out, I've not touched any new MS product in any way.

If enough people took a stand, even Microsoft would have to scrap this technology.
