motherboard for DDR 400

ok, this is my first post.. i'm buying a new computer soon and i must decide the configuration as soon as possible.

ok, i was going for a ASUS A7V8X motherboard and 1 GB DDR 400 RAM. but then someone told me i should not buy the DDR 400 because it's not the best option since it's not supported by all motherboards and i should stick with 333. but then after i asked some more people, some people told me that the ASUS A7V8X does not support DDR 400 and that the ASUS A7V8X-X does. but when reserching about this on the web nothing like that showed up, and i couldn't even decide between the two because they are so similar.

so, my question is: is it worth it to buy DDR 400? and what is the best motherboard between ASUS A7V8X and A7V8X-X?

Both the A7V8X and A7V8X-X support DDR400. The main difference between them is that the A7V8X-X version supports the newer 333Mhz Barton core AMD CPU's. If you have the money, go ahead and get the X-X version along with the DDR400 memory and you'll have screaming system.

If you want to over clock to a 400 Mhz bus or get a 3200+ later, you will be all set

The VIA KT400 chipset does support DDR400. Linkage for both from Asus:

Asus A7V8X

Asus A7V8X-X

The "V" and the "N" in the model numbers stand for the makers of the chip sets, VIA and NVidia, not Video and NIC. Neither board has onboard video. Asus boards with onboard vid have an "M" in the model number to indicate so
