URGENT HELP needed on fan controller

I have posted a few topics before about this, and haven't really gotten helped yet, so I am going to try again. I have an X-Superalien, which has a built in fan controller. The first knobis hooked up the front two fans, and the second knob to the top, side, and back fans. It kept the fans down, until a week later, when it would fluctuate up and down. I returned it and got a new one. It is doing the same thing after about a week of having it hooked up. There are two little boxes connected to each knob behind, with a heatsink on them, which I am assuming resists the current to slow the fans down. At first, the new fan controller was acting up, and tonight, the other one started doing it too. The little heatsinks get really hot when the fans are down, which I am asume causes them to stop resisting the current to cool themselves down. I am getting really frustrated. Should I try moving the boxes into the airflow somehow? Please respond back with every and any ideas, I really need help fast on this, as the loud fans are very annoying. Thanks a ton in advance.

Rich

I don't know if you are saying you are hooking more then one fan to each POT( knobs) or not but if you are you will burn the pots out as they are usually only made to run one fan on each knob. The current drawl will be greater thus causing the POT's to heat up more til the internal resistors burn out.

edit just looked up your case and fan bus is listed as "OUTPUT 0.3A 4 FAN MAX 1.2A"
so you way check to see what your fans draw for current.

I also think you have to many fans on the controler.
If you want to slow down your extra fans, and don't mind a little soldering, hook them to the 5V lead on one of your power plugs.
(the red one and either black one).
