battery goes to fast

i got a new sony vaio and the battery dies in 45-60mins...i try to fix the brightness...what shpuld i do. or i need to put more details about laptop

You may have a defective battery. If that is a new laptop, I think perhaps contacting the seller would be in order. If the laptop was "on display" where the battery was run down a few times and recharged... it may have developed a memory if it is made up of nicad cells..if that is the case, a total and complete discharge of the battery down to 0 volts, and then a 24 hour recharge may bring it back.

turn off all unneeded programs etc....do stuff like take the video from 32bit colors to 16bit. etc.

Yep, either the battery has come to the end of its life or you may be able to revive it by doing repeated full charges. Drain completely and fully charge. Repeat the process a few times...
