Misc labtop to VERY old TV: a nightmare!

Hi guys!

I have just read your messages and maybe you're going to be able to help me. Here is my nightmare...

I have been trying for days and days to connect an IBM labtop (with a S-video plug --> so a 4 DIN plug) to an old TV.
Basically, on the TV, I have only a VHS plug (so a 7 DIN plug). Any idea how to do this?
As I could not find any such cable in shops, I bought a 4 DIN plug and a 7 DIN plug, but I really have no idea which parts should be connected together...

I would be really glad if you could be from any help!
Thanks.

VHS plug? i'm not sure i've ever seen one like that. If you have a VCR or another device that has S-video in you could convert it to coax or RCA. There are also connectors (came with my ATI video card) that plug into a female svideo and convert it to a yellow RCA jack.

hope that helps

I would head to the local Wal-Mart electronics section and get something called an RF converter. By the sounds of it I think it would work. Basically it is a switchbox that you mount with all your other entertainment stuff and it allows you to use whatever kind of connection you will need (S-video or standard RCA). When I was in there a while ago they were in with all the stereo cables in the Electronics section.

Hope this helps,

Gary
