Removing drive letter - Win2k

Out of curiosity..

If you remove the drive letter from a partition. It doesn't delete the partition correct?

So essentially when you re-assign the drive letter everything should be there as necessary.

Correct?

In XP? Yes. You are correct. You can even mount the partition as a folder.

Curious though... How do you remove a drive letter without deleting the partition in 2K? You don't have the option to mount as NTFS folder unless you delete it, no?

From Computer Mangement
Disk Management
Right-click the drive
Click Change Drive Letter and Path
Click Remove
It complains, you do what you think is best at the time.

Wow, stumped NDC... feelin' pretty good today mwahahha

Thanks folks, I thought so but wanted to be sure.
I could just try it with a few test files, but the drive doesn't disappear until you reboot (stupid windows) so didn't want to go through that much hassle.

Thanks

I've never removed a drive letter either! ..and I don't see a reason to. So I'll ask the same question, why?
