Japanese proc? will it work?
maybe one of you fellow "geeks" out there will know this:
I have the opportunity to get a p4 3.2 proc for extremely cheap. it is from japan. will it work with american parts? american voltages? american users (me)? i need to know.
thanks, bill
ps, i know i should get AMD, but when i can get a p4 3.2 with the hyperthreading etc for about 15% of the AMD equivelent, i can be easily swayed towards intel

It will work just fine. There is no difference in a CPU from the USA or Japan or Australia . . . well, the ones from Australia run the M/GHz in the opposite direction. | |

Intel processors are not country specific; it should work with no problems. BTW, the majority of the parts in your system are from Taiwan and Malaysia.
The Pentium IV 3.2 GHz is not a cheap processor, so I hope you can trust the source....

sorry, cant get you guys any (still working on my own). what it boils down to is i know someone who is doing an internship in japan. while over there (because of the internship) he can get an employee discount plus some student specific discount. this is off the the japanese price (which i believe is already cheaper than united states prices). i will end up paying him around $100 (thats giving him some for the trouble). not set in stone yet, but does look promising. btw, if this does go through, i will be looking to buy a mobo and ram for this puppy (my stuff for my amd 1800+ is both uncompatible and degrading for this processor)
