PCI bout: TNT2 32MB vs. Voodoo Banshee 16MB

Hmm, do you think that there will be any difference in performance between the two PCI video cards (PNY TNT2 32MB & Diamond Monster Fusion 16MB)?! Maybe in a 500Mhz system, but what about in the system I'm about to put them in? A Pentium233!

Well, no point in speculating...lets get some benchmark programs, and after that some FPS scores on some emulators!

"I'll be back" with some scores!

FPS scores on emulators will be very CPU dependent, really the only way to test how good the diamond banshee is against the TNT2 would to just run it through 3dmark2000 @ 640x480... but dang its hard to get something to run on that system... perhaps you have a UT GOTY copy or Quake III copy?

its just so old it wont matter

I have UT around here...I think it's the copy that came with my trashcanned Voodoo3-3500. I will try something...but it will be tomorrow night...I just got distracted by the net (and I have some sound drivers to fix cuz some clubfoot did something silly...)

I'm wondering the same thing.. I've got a K6 233 with a 16mb Banshee right now and was wondering if there would be any change.

I bet there'll be some difference, but not all that much.

Greetings,
The TNT2 will mostly be faster, as long as it is not the 'm64'
version - that would most likely be a tad slower. The TNT2 was more in line with the voodoo 3 set of cards with the banshee in the previous generation shaping up against the original TNT family.
The extra memory in the 32mb card can be an advantage for later games, but I doubt you would want to run those on a 233mhz machine. I also doubt that you could tell much of a difference on a machine of that speed. On a 450mhz K6-2 they generally benchmarked in this order (slowest-fastest): tnt2 m64; voodoo banshee; and tnt2.
Regards,
Elad.

Might never get around to this! Got my new machine running this evening, so I'm going to be distracted for quite a while...

The TNT2 beats the Voodoo comparing them. Both are great video cards, but I do not greatelly like Voodoo cards a lot, so the TNT2 would be my first choice. I had a TNT2 exactly like the one mensioned and it worked great, at least back then.
