Best P4 Motherboard & Best AMD Motherboard

I presently have an AMD 1600 XP. I design websites and am looking to upgrade. I am wondering what people here recommend for as close to $100 as possible. $120 is ok. I have noticed that the 875 chip looks good. I will probably get 1GB of RAM. SIngle instead of Double I hear is fine. I would like USB2.0 which they all have and Firewire. IDE at this moment is fine but I would like Serial ATA for upgradeability later.

And in the AMD arena what is best?

don't think there is a BEST persay . everybody like one brand over another . if you stick with the big name brands you should be fine . not saying that some of the lesser name brands are bad in anyway .

but if you ask 5 people whats the best , i wouldn't be suprised if you got 5 different answers .

I have gone back to September post here and keep seeing that the Asus 7N8X Deluxe is the bomb. I won't be doing any overclocking so that feature is not an issue.

My suggestion would be to read reviews on some motherboards you might be interested in. Some places do comparison reviews of motherboards with the same chipset. You can formulate your own opinion based on the reviews you read.

I've used Shuttle and DFI the past 5 years, but just switched to ABIT for my new P4c 2.4GHZ. I went with the IS7 model with the 800fsb. Came with a lot of extra goodies. I'm quite pleased. The whole combo fired right up the first time with no problems.

I recently purchased a PCCHIPS ML848 board for around $40 or $43 works wonderful. have you looked at www.pricewatch.com for good boards... from what I have been able to gather you want a gigabyte, asus, or other popular brand board, but this pcchips works just fine.
