How do I remove a user from server 2000?

How do I remove a user from server 2000? I have a list of users and I need to delete some and reenter them but it will not accept being deleted?

one wqay: Logon to the server with an Admin account and then open Start Menu\Programs\Administrative Tools\Active Directory Users and Computers

Find the user and hit Delete, choose Yes at the confirmation prompt.

If you can not delete the user then you may not have the appropriate Admin rights.

You are better off just disabling the account that is no longer in use.

I did that and it is still there but it has a red "x" over it.

There are also a few accounts which you are not supposed to delete (ie: Administrator). Some of these you can rename though.
