IS IT POSSIBBLE TO BYPASS......????

My roommate just threw away a compaq pressario 1200 laptop that up untill yesterday was working fine. Where the power cord connects to the laptop the actual bracket inside the computer broke, so....you cant get any juice to it. I have already dug it out and taken it apart to find that the broken ......bracket(probably not what its called), is soldered right to the motherboard. One of the pieces of solder that is holding it down is missing, so I think that the computer is fine except that it is just not maling a complete curcit.......MY QUESTION IS THIS: Can I some how bypass this bracket and solder some wires directly to the board to let me give this thing power or....can I get a new braket,..thing, what ever its called someware
