Anyone have 17" laptop?

I'm debating the HP zd7000. Love the screen and full size keyboard.

Anyone here have a 17" model? How do you like it?

Are there any 15-16" laptops with full keyboards?

SK

I've got a 16". I haven't heard of a full keyboard on one of these if your talking about the right side number pad as well.

The biggest thing to watch out for is the resolution, it can differ a lot between the manufacturers.
If you want extremely good resolution on a laptop, you might want to check out the wide screens, like on the dell 8500. They're wicked. A buddy of mine got one. If I had known the resolution difference at the time, I would easily have chosen a 15.4 wide screen over a 16".

I use a Sony NVR-190 at home and it has a 15 inch screen. It doesn't have a full keyboard, however the keyboard is fullsize (minus about an inch) and comes with a key pad which slides into the expansion bay.

I don't know if mine would be considered wide-screen, but I can view wide-screen format DVDs and the picture is mafnificient; both in size and clarity. The maxium useable resoultion I can use on the laptop is 1400 x 1050. It does support a max res of 1600 x 1200 which I use if I output to a TV, external monitor, or projector. They keyboard is very comfortable; made even more so by the extra room on either side of the touch pad. I don't go through much of an 'adjustment' when switching computers because of the keyboard size.

I agree with inzzane, you have to check the available resolution by manufacturer. There is often variance between models due to size of screen, video ram, etc. I think you can find something that'll work for you w/o having to go with a 17 inch model.

I should have said full size keyboard that includes the numeric pad. I know the HP zd7000 series has this feature.

I've heard the screens on the 17" are pretty nice.

I also debated the 15.9 widescreens, but they are just the same pricing or more then the 17" screens. and with no better specs.

short battery life doesn't bother me, as I will be using power cord most of the time. I think its worth it having the 17" screen.

You should check out apple's powerbooks if you don't mind using a mac. They are really sweet.

some ideas

i have been searching for one (17" laptop) for a time and have found a poor-known d470w or d470wx, just "ask the google" if you want to learn more

they're upgradeable (have no CPU / RAM / HDD built in, have to buy separately) up to P4 3.2, 1024 MB RaM, 80 GB HDD
Have 64/128 Video Ram (w/wx) 1440*900 pixels, much of these specials (IR,Bluetooth, wireless lan, usb 2, ieee 1394 and like)

the thing i liked most is that it is $1000 cheeaper than all brand laptops of equal characteristics...

just look at it and think for one more time if youre going to buy something similar to that

Good luck...
P.S. signed on just for writing this
