Yet another HS question

OK, I want to replace my SLK-700 with TMD for something that will give me same or better cooling at lower noise.

This is for an Athlon XP 1700+ not O/Ced in an Antec Sonata with two Enermax 120mm adjusted to mid RPM which gives me about 80 CFM at 27 dB.
I am going to tone down the two 120 to the lowest setting which gives 63 CFM at 24 dB

Now I want to upgrade to a good LOW noise HS Fan combo, and I have these 4 candidates:

1. Aerocool Deep Impact DP-101 which goes for about $40.
The fan is about 24 dB might be a bit lower, and seems to be very efficient using heat pipe tech.

2. Swiftech MCX462-V which is $56 for the heat sink alone plus $11 for an Enermax 92 mm fan.

3. Thermalright SLK-947 with the Enermax 92 mm fan, $45 for HS and $11 for fan

4. Thermalright SLK-900A with Enermax 92 mm fan, $45 for HS and $11 for fan

5. Zalman CNPS7000A-AlCu which is about $50

The Enermax 92 mm fan settings are 28 dB at 47 CFM, 32 dB at 52 CFM and 35 dB at 64 CFM.
Gona use the Enermax at its lowest and quietest setting.

also what is the differance between the two Thermalright fans with the exception that one needs to be bolted to the mobo?
another side not, I am planing on lapping all HS, especialy the Thermalrights and the Aerocool.

I am also thinking of doing a SilentBoost mod on my case fans, and maybe on the 92 mm Enermax.

Which of the combos would you guys recomend to be the best cooling while giving me the silance I so dearly deserve
Thanks

Re: Yet another HS question

I'm real partial toward ThermalRight. I've been using them since the SK-6, and have a couple AX-7s in service on OC'ed T-Breds and Bartons.

In bench tests (see http://www.overclockers.com/articles373/ ), measurements of the the SLK900 and SLK947 show cooling efficiencies almost as good as water-cooled systems (around 0.22°C/W).

Between the SLK900 and the SLK947 (I believe it is actually SLK947U), the 947 fins are tapered in such a way as to leave more room for capacitors (less trouble fitting the HS onto the mobo, hence the "U" for "universal" fit.

I like Papst, Panaflo and Sunon fans (92mm the way to go). Usually I try to get the most airflow at my level of noise tolerance (I try to keep cpu HS fans below 35dBa), so I'd suggest picking your "favorite noise level" and see who delivers the most airflow at or below your noise threshhold. If there is a tie at airflow, then I would chose the fan that delivers the higher static pressure (usually expressed in inches of water).

Sunon has a 92mm fan, model KD1209PTB1, that delivers 49CFM at 34.5dBa (2700rpm, 0.17inH2O). For my ear, this is a reasonable level of performance vs noise.

I did some research on 92 mm fans when I was chosing 120 mm for my Sonata, and I found that for the noise the Enermax performs the best.
47 CFM at 28 dB, and 64 CFM at 35 dB.

I found the review of the Deep Impact and found it interesting, but I am really thinking of the SLK-947U, since the Swiftech is somewhat expensive. About $10 more.

I guess that HS with a SilentBoost mod will give me the necesary cooling at a low 28 dB. Hmm that with my case fans runing at 25 dB and I am thinking of getting the Zalman HeatPipe for my GeForce 3 Ti 500.

Thanks for the links and the info

That Enermax sounds great... do you have the exact p/n for it?

The actual name for the fans are:
UC-8fab
UC-9fab
UC-12fab

here is the web site for them

The silent boost mod is taken from the new Thermaltake SilentBoost HS which has added holes on the upper sides of the fan to allow more air to be drawn in, thus you can achieve more CFM at lower RPM and noise. I honestly do not know the validity of it and I just did a hack up job on a spare antec 120 mm fan, it feels that its drawing some air in from the sides, but its not realy significant so I can't say it is good or bad yet.

Ok I read some threads on the amdmb forums and some guy did the mod to one of his 80 mm. Tested it and had no difference in temps. Apparently you would have to put in more slits in the fan casing and make them at an angle. Since I am not that proficient with a dremel I will just have to deal with my Enermax fans being as they are.
40C system and 40C CPU at idle// 42 System and 42 CPU at load with a 25.5 C ambient does not sound that bad. Plus I am taking these temps from the gigabyte system monitor so I am not sure sure how accurate they are but they do seem to be so go figure.
