Athlon 2500+

Hey, I just built a new PC (Athlon XP 2500+, geil 256x2 ddr pc3200 ram, ati radeon 9600 pro) and when it starts up its at 1900+ speeds instead of 2500. Can you tell me what FSB and such to set it to? Also I used thermal grease and am using a Vantec aeroflow 7 + 5 case fans yet in the BIOS it says my CPU is at 50C which I think has to be wrong...

Okay, just wanted to check and see if you board would support 333 fsb for that cpu....

Are your temps still high? Have you tried running a utility prog. like speed fan to check your temps?

It's still running hot.. hanging around 50. I definately think something is up with the BIOS because it will go to like 46 then all of a sudden jump to 50.

try using this...

http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=337

to get a "second opinion" about your temps...your bios could be getting a bad reading.

If that still shows up as running hot, then take the side of your case off and see if that makes a difference. If so, you may have inproper ventilation, even though you have 5 case fans, they may be creating hot pockets of air inside the case.

What type of thermal grease did you use?

naw, 166x11= too slow. 200x11.5= more like it (for me anyways)
