IE And Windows Update not working

Hey Guys Im Stumped...

Working with:

aol 9.0
IE updated

my problem:

Trying to connect to any webpage ends up in a "page not found" screen. When using aol i have no trouble. So i went to Win Update Page via AOL, and it will not allow me to update. It gives an error code and i have tryed reconnecting, and running update about 50 times. Any ideas?

Thanks...Truckie

Any website outside of your AOL browser gives you the 'Not Found' error?

If you would like, I can send you a link to the customized IE that we use. It will unlock your IE so that you can use Windowsupdate, officeupdate, etc. Let me know.

Thats why I dont play with AOL stuff. Seems it hijacks your settings....I am sure someone else here can tell exactly what it does...some sort of proxy issue maybe.

I don't think its AOL to tell you the truth. I say this, because I use AOL (since 4.0 to 9.0 Optimized) and don't have problems with IE. There is a command in your registry that disables WindowsUpdate, I use it to prevent the average users on my network from installing un-authorized updates. Does it give you an error after you reach the windowsupdate site or does it timeout getting to the site? That makes a world of difference.
