This used to happen to me shed loads before i got a proper firewall. The easiest way to Get rid of it I found was to go to another site that offered a "set as home page" link and click it. They're then your home page but you should now be able to go to the general tab in the internet options folder and change it to what ever you like.
There is another way to do with a check box that locks and unlocks the changing of the homepage but I cannot find it. Sry. Try the change page thing first though cos if it works I'll just stop scratching my head. You can use this as a site to change. Click the tab at the bottom of the page when you get there. |

As for the default homepage problem. Here is a way to force it where nothing can take control over it... here

Ever use the Group Policy Editor? VERY powerful tool for 2K & XP!
Click Start--Run, type gpedit.msc, then browse to the following and make sure it is not configured here:
If it is enabled, you will NOT be able to change your home page...even if you are logged in as an admin.
Mike
BTW, great tip NDC!
