help in selecting a wireless router

I would like to get some recommendations on a wireless router for use with my HP zt1130 lap top. I am currently using a cable modem with my desktop pc and would like to be able to use my laptop around the house to access my highspeed internet service.

I am nearly computer illiterate so please be patient with me. I'd really appreciate any advice. Thanks

if so is it A,B,G?

It has a PC card slot/port on the side, but I don't have a card. Do I purchase a card separate from the router? Does a card come with the router? If not, which should I buy first and do I need to check that they are compatible with one another or is it given? Sorry for the continuous questions, I really don't know anything about the hardware stuff.

there are some wireless start up kits that come with a router and wireless card. Alot of times there not that great.
