Can 2000 access XP Pro's system folders?

I was curious if my laptop (running 2000 Pro) can access my desktop's Windows, Documents And Settings, and Program Files folder (running XP Pro) over the network, and vice versa. When I try it, it says Access Is Denied but their must be a way to give superuser privileges right? I need to be able to swap documents to and fro, but Microsoft doesn't want to make this easy.

Login to the share either as the user of the other machine, or the administrator, and you should be fine...

No, I use an account called ArcticFox, but I believe it has Admin privileges. The only Admin account I know of is accessible by holding F8 or whatever. Is this what you are talking about? Surely their is an easier way.

I can access the laptop's system files from my XP box, but not the other way around.
