What is the outlet on my PSU for?

On my psu there is an outlet like the one you plug your toaster into. The problem is that absolutely nothing fits into this outlet. The slots for the prongs are too short; I can't even plug my razor into it (razors have smaller prongs).

If I can't plug stuff into it, why is it there?

Interesting... not many modern PSU's have that!

It is there as a 'pass-through'. You can get a Kettle lead for it, plug one end there, the other to your monitor, and your PC runs from 1 wall socket!
I think it was disbanded as power usage within the PC grew with the higher end CPU's and GPU's...

like in older PSUs, there is this outlet where the monitor cable is plugged into.. those plugs and outlets are special ones. currently, most psu dont have this kind of outlet anymore so you need to plug your monitor from a separate outlet.

That can't be what it's for. The socket is so small that nothing, absolutely NOTHING I have will plug into it. The only purpose I can think of is putting a wire into it and blow the PSU for when it gets old .

Here is a picture of me holding the power cable for my monitor up to the socket

As you can see, the plug for the monitor is way bigger.

Model PSU? You're joking right? It's the one that came with the case.... $50 case.

I don't think it's for old monitors either. The monitor I had for my 80386 has the same power plug as the monitor i got just recently.

I used to have a computer with a power supply that had one of those, and the monitor I had plugged into it. Whenever I would turn on my computer, my monitor would turn on with it.
