Hlaf Life 2 may not be released for a while

Found this interesting read in relation to the souce code leak, it puts a lot of things into perspective and details what the impact the code leak is going to have.

I can't help but wonder how much this is going to hurt thier bottom line. Having a gome like this come out right before Christmas would do wonders for their sales figures. Given how much extra they're going to have to put into reworking the game just to keep the hackers out is really going to cost them too.

As much as I like Open Source I think this really sucks for them.

What will this mean for the Radeon 9800XT and 9600XT? They are supposed to be bundled with HL2. Could it affect their sales?

From what I have read HL2 is not going to be bundled with these cards instead there will be a coupon or similar that you will have to send in to get the game.

I think that guy is a little on edge. Most big game releases get leaked. It is expected. I dont think this will hurt the release date at all.

I doubt most big games have the source code leaked. I think Valve has a right to be worried.

I'll doubt that it will affect the game release date itself.... its feels like pure hype...

I have heard a April 2004 release date. I think that it is smart for them to wait and redo some of the code for HL2. i am not sure what someone would do with part of the souce code for a game, but i think that it may be smart for the programers to redo somethings to help prevent some wrong-doings.

I don't think most games (game of the year type game) gets their source code leaked like HL2 did. An Alpha or Beta version gets out, but not the source.

I generally take on the idea that if you allow your self to be taken then its your own fault. That said, Im sorry that the source code got leaked as I do think it is a large setback for Valve. Hope it all works out in the end.
