Misc Lite on DVD Burner.

I just ordered the Lite On LDW-401S DVDRW drive, $110 is a steal. Does any one else have one of these.

The reviews say its a great drive.

No, but I would buy one anyways because of Lite-On's track record. I haven't heard of any problems with their drives, but the seek times are still better on Plextor drives (but be prepared to pay a lot)

It is a great drive for + media only. With the prices dropping like they are on +/- drives, you might want to go for a dual format drive instead.

You can get the Pioneer dvr-106 which is the retail version of the Pioneer A06 for $155 from newegg.

I have the DVR-106 and it works great.

The Liteon LDW-440D is just a rebadged Sony. Liteon is supposed to be hitting the market with their own 8x dvd-r/rw +/- drive later this year.

I am about to order a couple for work just to see what they are like, can't go wrong for the price. The model I am looking at was less than £80 and supported DVD+R and DVD-R.

Regards

It only burns DVD+R/+RW and CD-R/RW. It doesn't do DVD-R/-RW

Kids

DVD+R/+RW is a newer standart, I dont see it as a big deal that the Liteon wont support DVD-R/-RW.

I will be using DVD+R's more then anything.

There are competing formats.

DVD-R and DVD+R

There is also

DVD-RW and DVD+RW

Kinda like VHS and BetaMax. They both do the same thing, but use different hardware and media and are NOT interchangable.

Dual Format drives write to all the above formats along with CD-R and CD-RW.

Got it?
