which video card?

i am currenly running a asus a7v333 w/ xp-2000 processor and 512m ram (2100). i have a geforce 4 ti-4200 64meg card and want to upgrade the video card to something that is directx 9 compatible. what is the best bang for the buck card out there? ati of nvidia? which model?

Though I do not own one yet myself I would go for an ATI Radeon 9800 non pro from Sapphire Tech and see about flashing the BIOS to the 9800 Pro. NewEgg.com has that card right now for $173 shipped.

Here is a link to radeon 9800 Pro BIOS You might have to play around with them to figure out which one your card would run stable with. And be sure to back up your initial BIOS if you are going to attempt this.

Well.....Sapphire cards have lower clocks then the rest of the brands. Be prepared to do some overclocking to make them the speed of ATI retail and Hercules equivilents.
