PC case is not working

I know this sounds wierd but this is actually whats happening.
I have just built a pc and everything on it seems fine, apart from one thing - it doesnt work. Every time i turn it on the power supply seems to whirr away but the mainboard has a green and another red light next to the memory.

I have changed the board twice, changed the power supply, changed the processor three times and the graphics cards twice and i know they work since i have tested them on different machines.

Nothing comes up on the post screen and the monitor doesnt even turn on. I have given up on whats wrong with it so i have turned to techimo. PLEASE HELP ME!

Andy

what are the components you're using?

Which mainboard, what brand/type of memory, what brand/type of video card, etc...

It could possibly be the memory, i don't ever remember a "red light" being a sign that things are running correctly.

The usual advice is to strip the whole thing down to only the essentials....motherboard, ONE stick of RAM, cpu. See what you get right there. If that boots then start adding hard drives and pci cards etc. Add stuff one at a time and see if it hangs again.

Restetting the BIOS using the bios "clear" jumper might not hurt. There should be a jumper beside the BIOS battery. Unplug the supply, move the jumper to the "clear" position for a few seconds or so...then put it back to the "normal" position.

Of course if it has lights it has them for a reason and my first thought would be to look at the manual or the website and see what that red light means! lol.

The green light is power to the board, The red light is AGP voltage incompatability with your graphics card. you need to upgrade it to a more modern one. ur motherboard manual should explain this.

Before you run off ...I boobed (it's not the first time and prolly won't be the last).

The Red LED on your board indicates a problem with your RAM not AGP (according to the Manual I just looked at anyway).

Most boards have a red led for what I said earlier, but not yours.
