Ati Radeon 9200
Hi, my computer is a:
P4 2.4ghz
512 mb ddr 2700 ram
60 gb 7200rpm HD
120 gb HD 8MB
Geforce 4 mx440
pioneer AO5 DVD writer
and i want to know some thing about the Ati 9200
i need a budget graphic card
im from australia and my friend who owns a PC shop is selling my one for $120 AUS
and how does the fx 5200 compare the 9200
i want something under the AUS 200 dollar mark
the fx 5600 and the ati 9700 pro cost too much for me
right now when i play games such as black hawk down, medal of honor spear head and other new games, i have to set it as low-med settings and sumtimes it is not smooth when playing. it slightly pauses like it cant handle the graphics.
i want to fix that, but sumthing budget.
all i need to know, what would u guys choose, ati 9200 or fx 5200
and how does the 9200 compare to a mx440
thanks

I have worse specs on my computer with a 9100, and I play BF1942 and MOHAA just fine. I would imagine the 9200 would be even better, plus the fact your computer is better than mine.

in 3dmark th e9200 scores worse then the MX440 does, so that would not be an upgrade if ya ask me.
Look in to the 9500, maybe even pro, they are very nice bang for the buck.

Don't even venture into the GeForceFX 5200 series, I have seen benchmarks where the Ti4200 has beaten an FX5200. The only plus you get with it is DirectX9 support.
I agree with Ultima, 9500, or the 9600 Pro 128MB looks like it might be in or around your price range.

only the 9200 or 5200 or sumthing like that from nvidia.
i cant get a 9600 pro. too much. what i really need to know is
if i get the 9200, will it help make my game play more smooth.
and does any one here have any links to get free results from benchmarks. and not the offical 3dmark web site, cause i need to register.
200 AUS dollars are usually double the dollar of usa. so around 100-120 US bucks. sumthing like that.
i dont want to spend too much money, and the 9600pro is way too much.
ok this my specs
Intel P4 2.4ghz
gts8-800 or sumthing like that gigabyte motherboard
512 ddr 2700 ram
60 gb 7200 (not sure that brand)
120 gb 8mb segate
cd rom
dvd writer
mx440 grpahic card and onboard crapy sound card
why do i go so slow when playing games.
i have all latest Direct x and drivers
and does any one here have any sick sites where i can find all graphic card spec and compare them.
and would an one recommend the 9200 for budget reasons and will it help with my gaming
thanks

I'm running a Sapphire 9200 64Mb on my system (XP2100, Abit KG7-RAID, 1Gb Crucial PC2700) and play CS, MOHAA, BF1942, Blackhawk Down, etc.
I don't care about synthetic benchmarks, I care what kind of real world performance I get. I can play MOHAA @ 1280x1024 32-bit with all detail settings maxed, it plays smooth and sweet with killer detail IMO |

| OCAddiction's comparison between NVIDIA's GeForce FX 5200 graphics chip and ATI's Radeon 9200 graphics chip. So does the R9200 ever win? Sure, I think it has better 4X AA quality, but even that is debatable as we all have different preferences. In any case, 4X AA is a joke with these cards, and renders any further AA discussion pointless. I guess if you're a fan of ATI and looking for a cheap video accelerator, the 9200 will certainly give you its money's worth, but for certain, the nVidia GeForce FX 5200 is the final winner. Remember though, these are bottom of the barrel graphics cards, so even though the FX5200 is better than the R9200, it's still not all that impressive. But for around $60, who's complaining? (Besides me?) |

im sorry that this is long, but please help me.
here are the specs of my current geforce 4 mx 440 64mb ddr and i want to compare it to the Ati 9200 which i believe i can only buy cause of the costs of the better cards. either this 9200 or a
fx 5200 .
can some one tell me if its worth buying a 9200 cause i really want to improve my gaming abit. will these specs improve it.
and if i get a 4X Ati 9200 instead of a 8x will it change the performance. cause i got a GA-8ST800 gigabyte motherboard which only supports 4X AGP.
thanks.
