Need challenger to ti4600

I agreed to sell my roommate my albatron geforce4 ti4600 for $150 because the card is much larger than I want (interferes with a drive cage). Anyways, I want to use that money and about $50 more (or less) to get a card that will be just as good if not better overall, but I dont' want it to be another 4600. Are than any idea's? Please help me because i need to find a replacement card online tomorrow.

IMO, you should move over to Radeon Video Cards.
With your price range you could probably find a Radeon 9600 Pro online. If you want, even softmod it to 9700!

Not sure if you will find anything "better" for 200$ or under to be honost . the 9600 pro is close . But i wouldn't say it is "better" . in the real word i think they are about par . the only thing the 9600 pro has up in the ti4600 , in my opinion , is that it will do dx9 .

first off, no you can't expect to softmod to 9700's anymore, they're all sold and no longer being made, so you get the non modable version, and for clarification it takes a 128MB 9500 non pro made by sapphire with "L" shaped memory structure to HOPE to softmod to 9700 np.

i wouldn't spend the money on the 4600... you can get a dx 9 level video card for that money, and will certainly last longer gaming quality wise. I personally suggest a 9500pro or better, but if you're looking to spend ONLY $150, a Ti 4600 may be your best bet...

might check out newegg's refurbished OEM cards [only lacks cd rom and the occasional s-video cable] for a dang nice card for some really cheap prices.

actually, my albatron is a refurbed from newegg. And my other computer runs a radeon 9500 pro. I was thinking the 9600 pro would be well under the 4600. Anyone care to sell me a radeon 9700? What about the radeon 9800se????? Is that comparable?

My advice is to go with ati dx9 cards...if your planning to get HL2 and dx9 games. ATI outperforms nvidia in HL2 and dx9 benchmarks.

yes, but how does a 9800se compare to a radeon 9500 pro and ti4600?

the 9800se is well above and beyond the 4600 and 9500 pro; however, it's also much more expensive
