XP Home OEM Activation question

Ok, I know that according to microsoft, OEM os'es are NOT supposed to be trasferred to any other machine..they are ONLY for the machine they are first installed.

ok, so far so good.

BUT...

How does that jive with the whole activation process.....what I mean is....what if I build a comp with xp home oem..then I activate it.

Then I swap nics, upgrade video card, change this, add that.....if I cross that magic barrier where I have to reactivate.....is it still considered the same machine and will they reactivate it for me?

What do you mean exactly..spell it out for me, lol. You put Xp home oem on one machine, activated it...and then what happened when you transferred? You just reactivated over the internet no problem?

If that is true, whats stop us from just putting xp oem with the same product key on 20 different machines?

Yeah, they will. They have no idea. I had a Dell that came w/ XP and I put 2000 on it instead. So then I put the Dell's XP on another computer and called for activation and it was fine.
