I think they are the same chip but one has more software. But if not the Audigy 2 is better. I have the Audigy 2 Platinum and it is nice. Plus Audigy 2 comes with Soldier of Fortune!

Audigy 2

the only difference between the oem, gamer, mp3+ etc (except for the platinum) the cards are all the same and software is the only difference (and from what i understand the software isn't much to get excited over).

so basically you're looking at an Audigy 1 v Audigy 2, so the obvious choice is an Audigy 2 (they have a lot more features on the card, not to mention better performance).

I am upgrading from a Sound Blaster Live Platinum.

Do you think its worth the money for a upgrade?

How well does the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz compete with the Audigy 2?

Ill throw this in for consideration. Evidently best buy has aaudigy 2 for around $55 free shipping.

Saw it listed here www.techbargains.com

Model SB0240

I havent checked it out cuz I dont feel like changing my browser settings to go to best buys site. Their loss.

Well I set IE to accept all cookies and it still sez the same thing.

I found a decent deal at newegg $75 free shipping, then they have a Audigy Gamer for 2 dollars cheaper.

Its the OEM Audigy 2, will it still come with the bay thingy?

I had an OEM SBLive and I couldn't stand its software. It was simply horrible. Also, it was a real pain in the butt in that it NEVER was working right at any given time.

I have one and it works great.

Does any one know how well the Santa Cruz 6 channel with DSP stands against the Audigy 2.

cant answer your santa cruz question as I have never owned or tried one but I did recently purchase an oem audigy 2 and haven't noticed much of a difference between the extigy kit on my amd 900 and the audigy 2 card I have in my p4 using same set of speakers , but maybe that's because with the oem version I have had a hell of a time getting correct drivers that allow me full capabilies of this card and with the extigy I went reatil so i got the bundle. If anyone has an Idea where to get good drivers for the oem version of the audigy 2 please let me know I have been to the creative labs site and the drivers that I found say that it can't find an audigy 2 card in my system. so I'm a little puzzled the only drivers I found only give me soud no extras no eax no firewire support no creative mixer nothing Oh well keep me posted
