Toshiba Satellite S video Q

I was hoping to connect my new toshiba p25-607 to my tv thru an a/v conveter/ selecter, plug it all in, i've double checked connections, I hit the to to-tv hotkey, it shows a tv screen icon on the laptop, but fails to send a signal thru the s video jack. Is there perhaps extra software I need to install to get this working? Thx in advance.

do you know off hand whether it is ATI or nvidia video chip in it? each one has seperate software you need to enable tv out. if it is ATI you need the control panel from www.ati.com
