GeForce FX 5xxx or ATI Radeon 9xxx

here's my question: GeForce FX 256mb or ATI Radeon 256mb.
to break it down even farther GeForce FX 5200 256 or ATI Radeon 9200 256
GeForce FX 5600 256 or ATI Radeon 9600 256.

is there a big difference?

I haven't had any experiences with a 9600, but I do have a 5600 and... well... it's not worth the money I spent. I'm planning on trading it in or selling it for a 9600 Pro or XT.

Yes, IMO you're wasting money of the extra 128MB of RAM.

I just bought an MSI FX 5600 VIVO at Essential Computer for $157. Still have to plug her in though...

I've read reviews that said that Radeon 9800 Pro 128 cards performed better than their 256 counterparts. I dunno if this is the case with the lower end cards, though.

if you are going for low-end, the fx5200 clearly beats the r9200 becuase it has DX9 support
but for midrange, the r9600 pwns the fx5600

ya don't waste your money on the 256 mb cards . it is a waste . that amout of memory won't ever be used . it is more a marketing ploy than anything else .

I thought that games were supposed to load up slightly quicker if you had more memory built into the video card. Is this "fact" part of the "marketing ploy"?
