Geforce FX 5600 256 mb makes my comp get stuck and restart when windows loads.

I have P4 1.8 ghz with 512 ram. My mother board is an intel D850GB. I have 300w power supply. Yet when ever i try running windows XP HOME it either locks up or goes to sleep mode and resets. I downloaded the latest drivers for my motherboard and my video card. Nothing is overheating either. I was wondering what is the problem.

So what you're saying is that installing the new video card caused this problem?

What video card were you using before the 5600? If you put your old card back in, does the system run fine?

did you uninstall the old drivers for your video card?? or did you install directly over them?

I was using a Geforce 3 ti 200. It ran fine. Im using it right now. If i put in the geforce fx 5600 it gets stuck

Know somebody that can loan you a bigger one to test the theory?

What about your BIOS, has it been updated?
