mouse trouble

can you help me? i did have a standard ps2 mouse on windows xp which is fine, moniter refresh at 85hz, mouse on standard sample rate settings with standard xp driver, however i just bought a cordless mouse (non optical) and now the rate of sample across the screen has gone down again to windows 98 style, if i unplug it and put the corded mouse back in, back to smooth again, is there any kindof file i can get that filters the movent so that it is smooth with the packard bell cordless mouse? or a patch?

is the cordless mouse usb?

what do you mean by "gone down to windows 98 style"

you can check for the latest drivers for your mouse at www.hp.com

if it is a usb mouse, may want to check for a firmware update on your usb controller.

Welcome to TechIMO!

Did you calibrate the mouse?

its ps2 and non optical, its packard bell, i mean the framerate of the movent of the mouse is like it is on win 98, not terrible, fine, but just not as smooth as win xp (u know how it uses a different mouse driver that makes the mouse movement smoother) and it still is that smooth if i use my old bog standard mouse just this mouse is smoother, was wondering how i could compensate as i use drawing packages and would much prefer a smoother motion
